Safety Foundation is a core course for teaching new or returning workers how to ‘think’ about safety. While covering a wide variety of safety topics, this is really a course in hazard recognition and control. Workers who understand hazardous energies and how they are controlled can apply this knowledge in any industry or circumstance. This course also covers key elements of Canadian workplace rights and responsibilities, due diligence and duty of care, WHMIS hazard communication, hazardous energies and their control, personal protective equipment, workplace cancers, and danger awareness of eight high-risk topics such as asbestos, confined spaces, lockout, blood borne pathogens, equipment use, working at height, fire extinguisher safety, and slips, trips, and falls .
